Booking
To book or not to book... that is the question. The most important thing to me is that you're completely comfortable with choosing Laura Starks Photography and that my style matches your vision. If you're ready to book... simply contact me and we'll get a date on the calendar. During booking, you will be asked to fill out a brief questionnaire, sign the contract, and make payment for the portrait package you choose.
Consultation
In this brief consultation, which is held via phone call, we'll start planning out the specifics of your session including discussing possible locations, outfits, and any special accommodations you'll need for a successful session.
Getting Ready for Your Session
Leading up to your session date, I am more than happy to assist you with anything you need. Shoot me a text, email, or give me a call, and we'll figure things out together. You can also check out the "Session Preparation" section found in the Blog tab of the main menu to help you get ready for your session.
Image Delivery
The moment you've been waiting for is finally here... to receive your beautiful portraits! You will be sent a proof sheet with your images, and once you have selected the images for your gallery, you will receive an online link to download images, view and purchase prints, wall art, and a variety of other products from my integrated online store. You can also share your images directly on select social media platforms from your gallery.

FAQ
How would you describe your photography style?
I like to keep my photography as natural as possible, capturing images of you that are both posed and naturally occurring. I feel this will bring out your true character and will also make the session more enjoyable.
What time do sessions take places?
The ideal times are in the morning or evening. This is for a couple reasons: natural light earlier or later in the day is simply lovely, whereas afternoon sun can be harsh and cast unflattering shadows on you and the surrounding environment. I am happy to find a time that suits your schedule best. Just know that a good portion of your session will take place in shaded areas if you choose an afternoon time.
What if it rains on our scheduled session date?
I'll get in touch a couple days before your session, and if it looks like rain, we can either reschedule or go ahead as planned in an inside location of your choice.
Do you take any traditional posed photographs?
Yes, I will spend some time taking some relaxed pictures that are posed, as this is an important record for you too. But, I also spend time letting the action happen naturally and capturing moments as they unfold.
Are travel fees included in my package?
Yes, up to 80 miles round trip are included in each session package. Any travel in excess of the 80 miles round trip will incur an additional fee.
Do you photograph weddings?
At this time, I do photograph small "micro weddings". This would include up to 4 hours, typically capturing wedding day details, getting ready, the ceremony, and couple/group shots following the wedding. Contact me to customize your package for your special day.
How do I book a session with you?
Just get in touch and we'll find a suitable date or you can book directly through my website. There's a link in the navigation bar at the top of the page. All I need is a signed contract and the retainer, as well as the session fee paid in full prior to your session. The retainer, which is used to reserve your session date and time is non-refundable if you choose to cancel.
How do I obtain my photos after my session?
For regular sessions, approximately two to three weeks after your session, you will be emailed a digital proof sheet of initially edited images to choose from for your gallery. After choosing the images you want, further editing or retouching will be made and your chosen images will be placed in your gallery for you to purchase prints, wall art, and other products. You can also share your images directly on select social media platforms from your gallery.
Do you offer free digital downloads or downloads for purchase??
It is important to me that the prints you receive are just as beautiful as the images you view in your gallery. To ensure that the integrity of each image is maintained for such things as color and tonality, I have entrusted the print lab connected to my online integrated store to deliver only the highest quality professional prints to you. Although each package does come with digital downloads, I only guarantee the quality of prints that come from my integrated online store, as not every print lab is made equally.
**Events hosted for charitable causes will automatically receive FREE digital downloads for all gallery images.
Are there any other fees required for portrait sessions?
Depending on the location that you choose, there may be additional fees required. Such fees would include admission to locations, required photo permits, etc. It is your responsibility to obtain/purchase a photo permit if it is required.
